Conducting virtual Document Control interviews with a client this morning and thinking about the qualities of a good Document Controller...

Top 5 for me are:

Eye for Detail - This helps to spot errors and follow procedures.

Organised - Any Document Controllers reading this will know exactly how busy the role can be! You need to plan ahead and prioritise.

Time Management - With deadlines to meet you need to manage time effectively.

Clear Communication - The message received must be the same as the message which the sender intended to send. This also includes confidence to conduct regular training sessions with other team members.

Quality Driven - Quality is at the forefront of everything a Document Controller does. It is important to be passionate about quality and compliance.

Do not underestimate the importance of Document Control. It is a BIG interface point between your company and your clients or your company and your important partners, so if that interface is lacking, clients are going to notice and itโ€™s going to reflect poorly on your company.
